Daily reminder that the Nobel Prize was (still is) purely a marketing move to scrub the reputation of the Merchant of Death, Alfred Nobel. Because he got butthurt that the newspapers had the audacity to shed light on the truth about his horrible legacy.
The first Nobel Peace Prize went to the woman he had a crush on and never got over even decades after she dumped his explosive peddling ass.
She also donated the award to Trump and asked him to invade to overthrow the democratically elected socialist leadership.
That’s not great. But. However. Those were not democratic elections in Venezuela. That was a farce.
Maduro won the election, and the US tried to manufacture consent to overturn it.
Given the state of Venezuela’s economy I find is highly implausible that Maduro could’ve actually won. This isn’t to support invasion or Machado, just realistically speaking there’s no way the voters agreed to more Maduro.
Why not? He’s fairly popular.
I dunno man, Maduro seems pretty openly anti-left to me. So much so he disavows parties that are left of him. It doesn’t scream socialist…
