The two lawmakers have had a longstanding feud, and now Crockett is saying Greene can’t take the heat she once instigated.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) “can’t take the heat” from President Donald Trump as Greene announced her plans to resign from Congress in January.

“Honestly, I was like, ‘You got to be kidding me,’” Crockett said Sunday on “State of the Union” about Greene’s resignation announcement. “You’re on the other side of the president for one week and you can’t take the heat? Imagine what it is to sit in my shoes to not only be on the opposite side of him but to have people like her who are constantly fanning the flames of hate.”

I still can’t figure out why Greene resigned and talked about someday coming back to help her constituents. Like, lady, you’re literally already in the best place to help your constituents. You have a whole year left in your term. You don’t even have to get primaried if you just choose not to run again. What’s the deal with Republicans just deciding not to do the job that people voted for them to do?

I read that she could resign when she claims to and will qualify for her pension just couple few days before.

If true, it seems to me she decided to spend the last few months trying to save some face so she can try and retire peacefully…unsure that’ll pan out.

This part doesn’t make sense to me. It’s not like people on the left are going to forgive everything she’s done because she did the absolute minimum necessary to call herself a human for a few months. She’s just making enemies of people on the right, as well.

will qualify for her pension just couple few days before

This part makes a ton of sense to me because it’s about money. I don’t know whether it’s true or not about the timing of the pension, though.

Actually, money might be the entire explanation. Let’s say that she’s getting a windfall after she leaves. Like, maybe somebody has paying her to vote a certain way, but they can’t actually give her the money until she leaves congress because then the bribery would be so obvious, then she might have no reason to lie and say that she supports everything Trump does.

This is all calculated. I can’t say if it’s going to be a successful calculation but here’s the reasoning:

She knows what a lot of Republicans know, which is that the Epstein file release could be massively damaging, it may already have sealed the mid-terms. Every Republican is going to feel scrutiny no matter what comes out and they’re already taking a thrashing in public approval about a host of other issues like ICE. If damning evidence comes out of the files, Republicans are going to take even more heat for hiding it. And even if nothing comes out, Republicans are going to take heat for obscuring it. Republicans are royally fucked next election cycle. Look at what happened in state elections. There is no winning move here… except not to play.

Greene will be able to say next year “I wanted nothing to do with any of that, I did not identify with my corrupt party and I left as soon as I could” and this line will go over fantastic with her base, who will feel Trump-less, lost and still will desperately want a strong (read: dumb, relatable) representative.

In fact, she may be the only thing left of MAGA/America’s nationalist movement after all this, both center-right liberals and conservatives are going to forget her worst and remember her best, because she’s going to have a big change in tone and be the right’s chance for a strong, female leader finally so they can pretend they’re not evil misogynists.

Distancing herself now is a strong statement down the road.

edit: to be clear, I am saying she’s going to make a run for senate, and she may make a play for the Iron Throne itself. Maybe not in 2028, but at some point. She has a good chance too, sadly.

Its like Jasmine said, she cant and literally doesnt know how to be against Trump, she is that weak and pathetic, no spine. She went against Trump for like a couple weeks and couldnt handle it, what a joke. She literally doesnt even know what to do but quit and run.

Saying it for the people out there who aren’t proactively paying attention to the shitbags running the asylum.
