You seem very knowledgeable of the game so I don’t really have anything in response. Ultimately I just didn’t deal with how it felt to play 🤷♂️ I put God knows how many hours into L4D back in the day and I just couldn’t stop comparing it to it. It felt thinner than L4D, levels weren’t as interesting, and I didn’t like how moving and such felt. Don’t get me wrong, I was impressed by what they made. The game is better than it has any right to be. But I just don’t think it’s for me
I think what I really felt was the lack of weight and force. I was one of those big beefy dudes forgot what they’re called and I made him HUGE. But when I walked around and such I felt like any boring 3rd person character. Contrast it with a game like Titanfall where moving as a pilot or a Titan feels radically different on every level. Sound, movement, vision, everything contributes to the power. There’s heft and momentum, your melee carries weight. If I’m some beefy 9’ft tall ogre dude with a massive shotgun I want to feel power dammit!

Dark tide was really fun for about five hours then it felt very repetitive and shallow tbh
The old cwing series also came out like 25 years ago thought right? And it was niche even at that time. So I totally agree it’s a fantastic successor, but they aren’t really drafting off the legacy here
Like I agree with you, I think it’s a very well designed game that does a lot of things very well. My list of complaints is very short. But it struggled to find a core home audience And I always struggled to recommend it to people because a lot of my friends who play video games aren’t really interested in more technical vehicle games like that so I know they’re going to bounce right off it.
Definitely a fantastic game. The only “mistake“ they made was that it’s honestly a little inaccessible for a lot of people. It’s very technical when you get down to it. Pretty steep learning curve even against basic AI, and you cannot have any fun playing online even if you’re competent lol
They then didn’t do a very good job of marketing to the hardcore SIM crowd, where I think it would have found a better home.
Basically it’s probably 10% too casual for the hard-core SIM crowd though they would likely accept it, but it’s impenetrable for “casuals” IMO. The power management while trying to focus on where you’re flying and engaging can really trip people up, and if you can’t manage your power you’re basically screwed
Google bricks their chrome casts “by accident,” HP bricks their printers “by accident.” Lots of accidents these days companies wanting more sales it seems 🤷♂️

Well that’s bizarre. Frankly you’re the only person I’ve heard ever complain about this with the stock controllers (which I assume you’re talking about). Unfortunately I’ve had a few friends who had trouble with the “elite” controllers

I guess I’m just not really looking for a competitive edge and don’t really feel like moving my wrists and hands around that much. Part of what I like about controllers is that it’s very easy on my wrists. But I totally get why people want that!
Switch version (3D all stars) uses gyroscopic controls. No IR/light bar and such .
I do think it has great vibes and the music kicks ass.
