Practically saying “It’s not an emergency because you took too long to stop us” is an insane take, wow
Along with “the court has no jurisdiction because personnel appeals must go through official channels in Congress” despite not going through Congress to enact any of this in the first place.
They are so almost impressively slippery, talking out of both sides of their mouth all the time. Unfortunately it seems our Republic has up until now survived on overall collective goodwill rather than a set of ironclad rules to prevent a popular dictator from taking over.
We have a set of ironclad rules: laws. But they can’t be enforced when a majority of the institutions charged with enforcing them are intent on subverting them instead.
The only way you could make this work is by making, say, the Department of Justice a separate and co-equal branch of the government, with its leader nominated and voted on by federal judges, completely detached from the normal political process. And that would require amending the Constitution.
That’s not a bad idea actually.
What’s to stop that from being infiltrated/subverted as well? We need things to get bad enough for the average person that we collectively put a stop to the insanity.
Nothing. Humans will corrupt any system of government.
And yet he ignores it and continues and nothing happens.
