While preparing for the case, Reuveni sought guidance from his superiors on what claims he could make based on DOJ evidence. He was instructed to tell the judge that Abrego Garcia was a “verified member” of the gang MS-13, and that he wasn’t in any immediate danger while detained at the Salvadoran mega-prison, CECOT, although the DOJ had no evidence to support either claim. Reuveni was also warned not to verbally mention that the deportation was a mistake, as the admission was buried at the bottom of a previous court filing.

“Text messages, email exchanges, and documents show that the Department of Justice misled a federal court and disregarded a court order. Mr. Bove spearheaded this effort, which demanded attorneys violate their ethical duty of candor to the court,” US Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) said in a statement. “This is a declaration of defiance of our courts at the highest level of our government.”

Yup, just like they “found” all that evidence on Luigi… after the cop left with the bag and came back

The apparent abuse of the governments power and how he handled the whole show so far makes him a hero, regardless of whether he did anything or not.

What is sad about it though is that most people think that making memes and sharing them is enough to honor that. The US should have had mass protests demanding the oligarchs to hand over all the money they have robbed off the people unless they want the people to take it back.

Whether he did it or not doesn’t really matter. He’s the face of it now so people are going to rally behind him. Plus, his treatment has been horrific regardless of his guilt

Because the real assassin didn’t want the attention, and real heroes tend to have mysteriously short lifespans.

Letting a fall guy enjoy the fame and either prison time or exoneration gives our real hero a lot of headstart on disappearing and becoming someone else.

Here’s a question for American Lemmy folks.

For those of you without a passport - where is your birth certificate? Does it list your parents’ names? That piece of paper is all that proves you’re a citizen. Lost it? Welcome to being undocumented.

It’s not like these people give a shit about the courts or reality. You can be “undocumented” and time they decide so. Maybe you can prove otherwise in court, maybe you can’t. Either way you’re already gulaged.

Technically, it’s not even that useful, it just proves someone with the name you’re claiming was born. It doesn’t prove it’s yours and, with the attack on birthright citizenship, it doesn’t prove you get to continue to be a citizen.

Obviously state depending but I was able to order my long form online after filling out about 15 minutes worth of filling out info on an official state website. Showed up a week later, state seal and all.

I have an active passport, but I don’t know where my birth certificate is. Somewhere in my home. Probably. It’s not a thing that came up in my life much before now, so there wasn’t much reason to care deeply about being able to access it. “Papers please” is oppression, even to people who aren’t in a target class. Not having your paperwork available shouldn’t be a jail able offense.

More like the DOJ needs to be turned upside down and all the criminals in it put behind bars for a long time.

Who cares if the DOJ is LITERALLY Lying to the Court?

-Law and Order Republicans who claim ALL IMMIGRANTS SHOULD BE DEPORTED because they Probably Committed a Crime or something!

I just did a quick google and couldn’t find a second source from a known organization.

Not saying it didn’t happen, just saying some of all of this may be misleading or might be inaccurate.
