Faced with a souring economy, the president could change course, but he prefers to fire statisticians and to lie brazenly to the public.

I’ll remind you that it’s not just him. This has been a GOP talking point, out loud where everyone can hear, since the GWB administration.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reality-based_community

The phrase was attributed by journalist Ron Suskind to an unnamed official in the George W. Bush administration who used it to denigrate a critic of the administration’s policies as someone who based their judgments on facts.[1] In a 2004 article appearing in the New York Times Magazine, Suskind wrote:

The aide said that guys like me were ‘in what we call the reality-based community,’ which he defined as people who ‘believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.’ […] ‘That’s not the way the world really works anymore,’ he continued. ‘We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors…and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do’.[2]

And if this unarmed official (widely assumed to be Karl Rove) is saying this out loud to a journalist, you can assume they’ve been saying it privately for decades

What the hell is up with these academic terms for “LYING?” The party of Jesus routinely doesn’t follow the commandments.

The party of Jesus probably couldn’t even tell you the ten commandments without looking them up. That’s partially because several of them are loosely the same idea, but also most Christians are practicing both religion and politics based on vibes. They aren’t based in facts or books, bible or otherwise.

Many conservatives only care about in-group and emotions. They don’t all justify it with as many words
