One small caveat: you want to avoid oversharing when you first meet someone. If that’s something you struggle with, practice making sure you’re listening more than you’re talking and come up with a list of “no go” topics for first meetings with people.
Other than that, you make friends by asking them questions about themselves and really listening to their responses. Try hard to remember things they say, as if they’re already a friend you care about, so you can ask about them later. Also, volunteer information about yourself. Ask people for short bits of advice on topics they know things about. Even ask people for small favors. That’s how you form connections!
