    There is no land closer to home they can buy? On the other side of the world is the best option? Seems quite suspect.

      I think having it inside the US brings some security guarantees that the base is left alone. And it might’ve been part of some bigger deal, Qatar buys some US weapons and they throw in land for the base in return or something.

        It’s most certainly part of a bigger deal. If the plan to revive US manufacturing is to crank out weaponry count me out.
