People who are hostile to China bringing up Hong Konger’s (or Uyghur)'s struggles have the same relevance as Zionists bringing up gay Palestinian’s struggles; the purpose isn’t to advance their cause, but to justify hostility against the whole group. There is a different conversation to had regarding specific policies, but anyone going “free hong kong” in response to protests against fixing the law that prevented a murderer from being extradited and tried lacks the background and desire for that.
