The DLC is akin to existential horror and I’d argue it’s why the option to tone it down didn’t really help. That feeling is intentional and plays a huge part in the lore of the DLC. The original game is learning to get over your fear of death. The DLC is a tale of what can happen if you give everything to prevent that mortal inevitability! I recommend approaching the ‘horror’ the same way you approached the end of a cycle.
