Online I found this egg for 23 euros. I then visited several sex shops asking for vibrating eggs like that one. On the first one they showed me this one for 130 euros. They insisted is waterproof according to IPX7 and that cheaper models are won’t bring me to orgasm.
Is the second model 6 times better than the first one? I never expected a sex toy to be this expensive.
At another sex shop they offered this which can be bought directly from the manufacturer for 50 euros, but in this sex shop was valued at 90 euros, which is an insane markup.
They also had this one for 130 euros in store.
I don’t know if I should only buy ‘brand’ vibrators or simply trust amazon reviews and buy the cheapest one for 23 euros. Other reviews about the most expensive models over 100 euros indicate some customers are unhappy with the product, considering the price. Neither do I know what brands are reputable ones, if any, because I cannot give back a thing like this if I don’t like it.
Every listed toy is made in China so I don’t get the radical markups.
If you use egg vibrators, are there any brands I should look for?
For vaginal and anal use.

I see it, 2 unprotected metal contacts. No corrosion so far? No charging problems due to defective contact?
I don’t know if you’re telling me to boil silicone toys with electronics and motors inside of them or not to boil them.
No corrosion, also no boiling. I realise my point didn’t really get across well; good silicone is durable, and with simple non-electronic toys, like dildos, you can just toss them in a pot and boil for a while. What you want to avoid is oil-based or silicone-based lubricants because it can lead to material degradation, even if the silicone itself is really high quality.
My cleaning procedure for the edge is essentially to get the lube off, wash it with some anti-bacterial soap, and then dry it off immediately. It’s been about two years now and it’s in solid condition.
both the Lovense Edge 2 you use and an egg I’m thinking about buying have a non detachable battery built in, meaning when the battery dies you’ll have to buy a new toy or either open it to change the battery, which I’m assuming would be a hassle.
You say you’ve been using this toy for 2 years now. Any problems with the battery so far?
What practices do you follow to maximize battery life?
planned obsolescence even here…
Right? It’s pretty disappointing, the Edge could definitely fit one or two AAA batteries, and you can definitely engineer something to be waterproof and have replaceable batteries. That’s not new tech exactly. The entire Edge 2 (and I assume most toys like it) is coated in silicone, so I don’t think there’s an elegant way of opening it without breaking the silicone. Not sure if there’s many teardowns of these things.
I used to charge the Edge after using it, but after coming back to it with very low charge sometimes I’ve elected to just charge it beforehand. Granted I don’t use it that often, so I really can’t speak for its longevity. When I do use it more frequently it has enough for a really lengthy session, or two more normal ones.
A little mixed up. Oil breaks down latex, not silicone. So it is unpopular mainly because of not being good with latex condoms. If latex isn’t part of the situation, oils and fats are fine. There are commercial oil-based lubes, or any oil or fat that it suitable to eat can be used for sex. Olive oil, crisco, whatever is available and works.
But the silicone-based lube advice stands. Do not touch silicone toy once with even the whiff of silicone lube on your hands. That is certain ruin. I never have them both out at the same time. Keep them in different parts of you home.
Right! Thank you for the correction.
