The one place I worked that provided powered sit-stand workstations - AT&T, surprisingly enough - I truly loved the thing. It could drop low enough to sit cross-legged on the floor, or raised higher than I could manage standing, and anywhere between. Plus, the keyboard platform and both side platforms were independently adjustable relative to the primary platform that held a ginormous CRT monitor. Yes, this was decades ago.

Sit/stand desks are also great for ergonomics. You can set your desk to whatever the right height for your monitors is.

I worked at a bank where some of the offices had big fancy banker desks made of gorgeous hard wood and others had much newer sit-stand desks which while made of cheaper materials they did in fact allow for whatever height the user needed for best monitor ergonomics. I’d start my day standing to help me wake up, then around 11/lunch time shift to seated and there were some days I’d simply forget to put the desk down and be standing for the entire workday

Yeah, it was 100% for ergonomics that AT&T provided them - I’m sure things are worse now, but back then they had a STRONG union with great benefits, so they overcompensated to save money long-term.

Sit/Stand desk are cheap enough now that they’re actually the same price or cheaper than normal desks these days. That’s motorized too. That’s all we buy now when expanding.

They are so fun to yeet at someone. Probably why most companies do not use or allow them.

Is THAT why adult workplaces are so fucking dull & boring & energy-draining? Because they think if we had anything remotely healthy & enjoyable then we’d just play & throw things & waste time?
