In a statement, a Hilton spokesperson said the brand’s hotels “serve as welcoming places for all” and that the hotel that canceled the reservations was independently owned and operated. The cancellations “are not reflective of Hilton values”, the spokesperson said.

I see the problem here. This particular hotel realized that being tolerant and welcome to all means that you have to not tolerate intolerance. Hilton corporate misunderstood this as the Paradox of Tolerance and wrongfully assumed they needed to tolerate these pieces of shit.

Had they understood that tolerance is a social contract and need not be applied to those who didn’t follow it, this whole mistake could have been avoided.
