The families of two Trinidadian men who were killed in an Oct. 14 strike on an alleged drug boat accused the U.S. in a lawsuit Tuesday of wrongful death and extrajudicial killings.
It’s some US legal language that I never managed to understand. If I were to hypothesize a rationale, I would guess that in some cases death is unavoidable and even necessary, but in this case said death wasn’t.
Wrongful death is a civil case where you are suing for damages. Murder is a criminal case requires someone like the attorney general to bring the charges against them
Anyone can sue anyone at any time but criminal cases require the government to be willing to pursue it
