looking at this antheas’ “postmortem”, it seems they are unusually concerned about Bazzite’s marketability as a commercial OS and also with their supposed right to partial ownership of the Bazzite “trademark”. rather weird behavior for an open-source developer. in their own words:
Bazzite’s fate is sealed as a non-commercial hobbyist-like OS.
I sincerely hope so. as the current de-facto pack leader in gaming-focused Linux distros, I would really fucking hate to see the OS monetized in any commercial way. they also recommend people stop donating to Bazzite because “a chunk of those funds will no longer go to me”.
this person not only sounds toxic, but also like they only care about money.
I understood the part about noncommercial as in not a OS that will be preinstalled on commercial handhelds (like those from GPD)
From reading the linked post-mortem written by Antheas (the one that was kicked out for CoC violations) It sounds to me like there are multiple people acting unprofessionally in this situation.
Of course it’s hard to tell when you only have one side of the story, and it was written by the one who was kicked out, but without a rebuttal from the other team member mentioned, it sounds like childish politics and unprofessional development practise all around.
I would hope that with the attention that Bazzite is getting it should get an injection of contributors who hopefully are more mature in their interactions with other community members.
lol bazzite leadership is trash
How so?
