I think it’s Peppermint Patty with the knife (and probably Lucy is off scene, waiting around the corner).

Current times have really hit the Peanuts hard…

I could never think of a time when I need my wallet and my phone at the same time. Imagine carrying all that around all the time, whenever you need your phone you have all your credit cards and driver’s license and family photos all in your hand at the same time. How annoying.

I don’t use one myself for much the same reason as you. But I think a lot of people just need their phone and up to 3 cards (credit card, license/ID of some sort), so a wallet phone case isn’t that much bulkier than a simple phone case. Yeah there’s other things you’d put in a wallet, but they aren’t strictly everyday carry things, so you can put them in a separate wallet or purse/bag and only take that when you need it.

For my mom I think she just likes a case with a front cover, and it happens to have space for cards so she uses it. So the “bulk” of it is a direct result of what she’s after (the front cover), it doubling as a wallet is just a bonus.

I have a wallet that I bought around 2016 in which all my various smartphones through the years have fit into a certain zipper compartment, I’m still using that wallet every day 😄

unless you use your fingerprint or face to unlock it (iphones and many androids have a key combo that quickly locks your phone and disables biometrics until you unlock it again with your pin or password. google it. useful in duress situations, but some manufacturers (in my case xiaomi) remove the feature. it doesn’t prevent the stealing of all available data on your phone in case your attacker happens to own a cellebrite device and takes your phone away for a few hours (almost nothing can prevent that, except grapheneos), but it prevents quick in-the-moment abuse.)

Jokes on them, my fingerprint scanner refuses to recognize my fingerprint 75% of the time. Maybe because I use GrapheneOS

Well lucky you tbh, they’re insecure (it’s basically a password that can never be changed and can legally be compelled by the feds unlike an in-brain password), could in theory be used quite literally to fingerprint you, and can’t be used with gloves or dirty hands or even sometimes sweat.

didn’t google pixels only recently switch to ultrasonic scanners instead of optical ones? if your fingerprint scanner has to light up with a bright light, it’s usually less good

Yeah, but that’s more a threat if the state gets ahold of your device. I’m not worried about them getting to my digital payment methods, they could probably just empty my bank account if they really wanted without ever having my phone.

When I got mine, I used to show it to retail employees at the cash register. It only lasted a little while but I still laugh about it.
