Assuming you’re not joking here, if your computers are any way modern they almost certainly have a backdoor.
Come back where? China?
Come, not coke
You update your TV more than your phone? I don’t feel that’s the regular way of things.
Self hosting movement is hosting stuff yourself, so kinda, assuming you’re not putting some kind of advertising on your own services, but most commonly I’d see things like jellyfin, nextcloud, navidrome, immich and then a bunch of other stuff, there’s foss alternatives to most commercial offerings.
Is a great place to start.
I wouldn’t mind a little faster paced fwiw, the conversation can stagnate a bit sometimes, but it is what it is.
I’m not super well informed, but a socketable AMD nuc form factor machine would’ve been nice, single pcie, m.2 and 2 sodimm ram slots would’ve been good. Could’ve even given the option to route the pcie slot externally and offered an add on egpu case that’s actually worth a damn a la mega drive/sega cd.
Which is fine, but there was no obligation for Framework to use that chip either.
May you be blessed for your generosity on this day! I would love to receive your cat, however in my village there is a small fee for the postage of the animals. I am, of course, willing to cover the fee - however it must be sent to the village post centre by Western Union transfer by the sender. If you send the $3500 I will reimburse you.
Dear brother in Christ I appreciate your generosity, is it a Siamese cat? I have allergies and the graphics card helps to clear the hair.
My cat just died chewing through the power cable on my graphics card so I need a new 5090, please help brother
It does harken back to the original HL mod scene though - some high quality stuff came out of that (and valve picked up the Devs too)
Thinking back, HL had a ridiculous quantity of high quality mods and TCs back in the day. Hell, Valve have even allowed HL to be remade and sold on steam.
What NVIDIA have told AIBs is completely unknown, but NVIDIA certainly hold all the power, if NVIDIA say ship them, they ship them.
Note there have been reports of FE cards, MSI, Zotac, Gigabyte and Manli all impacted.
I’m not trying to convince anyone of anything, for some reason some people just want to ignore the meaning of words. I’m not saying anyone feels super inconvenienced either, like I said they’re minor inconveniences, but they’re there and they grow.
Frankly I couldn’t care less about sticking it to the man, I’ve been around the scene for 30 odd years at this point and I don’t think that’s ever been a motivator for me. I do like things that make it more convenient, more reliable and increase selection - I don’t like things that make it more difficult, no matter how small.
In the nicest possible way, what you’re both describing are minor inconveniences.
Zotac and PNY don’t make the chips, NVIDIA at fault here. Some people care because they don’t actually have a ton of money, but gaming is their hobby and they’ve saved up 2-3 years so they can afford a high end card because it’s worth it to them the extra $50 or $100 represents the difference between being able to afford the card and not, or maybe having a couple of extra games to play on it.
Having to find a way around is an inconvenience.
A physical (or physical-ish) button is pretty much my main driver. I also like the little bit more freedom I’d have with a kobo.
You probably shouldn’t, check out Intel management engine and AMD secure technology.
