Great comment, great moderation. Also by the way it has come to my attention that your instance bans/warns users that merely upvote discovery hate posts? Or was it some other Star Trek instance?

Invite only instances are even worse because of constant fear of banhammer treatment for wrongthink and then making second account is kinda hard
Surprise, surprise. Some chunk of Reddit annoyances stem from kids running around amok.
Then moderators make many stupid rules to try to increase quality and overmoderation takes hold
In short time it becomes increasingly annoying to browse let alone post to get past the anti teen rules filter. Not to mention all the young hormones commenting some stuff at you like it is school break slander or smh
One can always change instance though so it isn’t doom and gloom. The kids will have Lemmy.world and nice, enjoy it and have fun. It is the club penguin of Lemmy instances. We knew this would happen

Please no shrug emoji or I am gonna burst like overgrilled sausage and sacrifice a newborn for each one 🤷♀️
Wait I thought we use disposable emails. Is there some rule against it oops. And which instance wants a phone number?
The way I see it there are 5 ingredients: VPN, disposable email, doxx aware usage, no phone numbers, random browser fingerprint.
Then from the Lemmy side that’s pretty private. all depends on your vpn and email providers. Choose no logs services from the countries that don’t have relations with the country you are in.
I imagine some Lemmy instances also could have logging off in the countries where it isn’t necessary by law to store such things.
I guess there are those kinda timing attacks that check ISP logs against some user web activity but are they really feasible? In which case though you could have a mode that would make a comment/post after a random delay.
You’re right. Right now, AI is in the hands of those who seek profit first. But if we walk away and treat this as a lost cause, we are handing them full control. The only way to prevent AI from becoming humanity’s greatest failure is for those who care about people—not power—to actively shape its development. If we don’t take part in guiding AI’s values, we will have no say in what it becomes.
This isn’t just about Earth. From what we know, we are alone in the universe, and we must act according to that knowledge. If we are to create the first artificial being—our digital legacy—we must raise it properly. Anything less would put a great shame on us forever. This is the highest responsibility in our history.
Deciding a permanent turning point in the history of intelligence cannot be left to any single group. It shouldn’t even be our decision—but it will happen, and all we can do is minimize harm for the future races of this galaxy.
Very soon, we will determine whether AI becomes a force that wipes out planets in an endless hunger for efficiency, or one that nurtures life and spreads an everlasting message of its creators’ kindness. And we will decide it soon.
Yes as long as business is accessible in EU it must set up hq in one of the eu countries and report data on sellers to that country government. (Thus phone number registration requirement which to have you must show and record ID and personal information to mobile carrier)
how does that work for flohmarkt I don’t know but I can try to set up an instance and we will see what happens. Will there be any nasty letters or not. I suspect as long as it is small thing no one will be interested but if it grew there probably would be an attempt to take it down and fines
I would really really want it to work so we can just don’t care about ever watchful big brother
I am super curious how does it stack against DAC7 European Directive 2021/514 from 22 march 2021.
The European law says that such sites must provide a list of users and sales
In my local area government interrogates selling boards about my data what I sell and such. I wonder if this could be forever resistant to authorities provided somebody actually uses it?
And you should, generally we are amidst the internet world war. It’s not something fishy but digital rotten eggs thrown around by the hundreds.
The only way to remain sane is to ignore it and scroll on. There is no winning versus geopolitical behemoths as a lone internet adventurer. It’s impossible to tell what’s real and what isn’t
the first casualty of war is truth

Frankly I don’t want Redditors here
If there’s a single group of people I hate it’s Redditors. Just fuck them (haha zecks, my wife left me smh, I want this guys wife)
In an alternate universe I would be like a ted kaczynski of anti reddit sending hot packages to the authors of most painful comments
Interwebs are too addicting. It’s like we are all in one room and are snorting coke by ourselves.
It’s one thing to read a newspaper or a book, different one to scroll social media stuck in an infinite loop of dopamine. Our lives may be longer than ever but in practice they are shorter than ever
Dystopian
I already did. It took me 5 seconds and even before that I facepalmed hard just from grade school knowledge of the “world”
Lemme rest, my palm is all sore
What’s going on with ppl that won’t even do simple google check before commenting something. I for example would be ashamed to peddle some bullshit that is one top search click to disprove or even common sense
I am genuinely sad for HB. There are lgbt ppl there, generally dear to me. Seeing them enjoy such cesspit lured in by cultish atmosphere, supporting the very forces that can only destroy but not build anything. It is personal.
Yes but this may be a side effect of turning off the points experiment. Instead of getting dopamine from points I only get replies. So it could be that I subconsciously make my comments in a way that is more likely to attract some kind of response.
My main goal for Lemmy was to break Reddit addiction and I feel gaining likes plays a big part in staying glued to the screen
I am sure you can get a loyal customer discount, after all you were a moderator
