I have a use it till it breaks philosophy, but if the thing breaks and I cannot figure out how to fix it myself (or do not think I can do it safely) and have no repair shop to go to, I do have to buy something new. And I am not ready to live so simply I have no smartphone, computer, or WiFi. I do not want to buy more than I need but I am also not interested in anything like “return to monke.” Do not need a TV or Alexa, but I use my rice cooker and hot water boiler daily and you can pry those electric conveniences (that save me so much money in the long run for all the times I pick their convenience over eating out or buying hot drinks from a store) out of my cold dead hands.
