As the name suggests, a mod is “modifying” the game, in ways that the original creators never intended to support. That’s why out of very few exceptions (such as Paradox and Steam mods), there is not a centralized hub maintained by the creator to organize and apply mods. But since there are some similarities between certain games (such as the game engine they run on), sometimes there is a third party mod launcher/installer which simplifies things. The process tends to be different for every game because every game is made differently. Quite unfortunate. I still have my account, but in 2023 I swore never to post or comment on Reddit ever again. Their loss, but I’m happy to welcome anybody to Lemmy that has taken the plunge. I know we need messengers/recruiters to grow, and I’m happy for everyone going there on our behalf, but I am sticking to my vow.

I had passed on Loops when it released because of those ToS. Looks much better now, so I might reconsider.

Mine is the HP type.

My work laptop is not Lenovo but has a nub. It’s works great when I have work gloves on, since the touchpad doesn’t respond well with those.
