You make a good point. Even disregarding how well known Itch is, their registrar acted woefully incompetently by not even attempting to contact Itch.io about the takedown request (which is what Brandshield should have done in the first place)

It sort of makes sense for most of the countries on there, as they (or the slice of them in the awkward timezone) aren’t big enough to justify splitting their timezones in half. Just pick the one that matches the most people and move on…

But what the bloody hell are countries like Spain, Portugal, and France doing?? Basically their whole country is in the wrong timezone!

Yeah, if Iwantmyname are so neglectful as to pull the entire plug on your website over a singlular copyright claim, then I’d move right the fuck along too. They’re clearly not a trustworthy registrar.

To make things worse, Itch.io isn’t exactly a small company either. If this happened to someone smaller, with less outreach to fight back with than Itch, I can only imagine they’d have no recourse against this neglectful behaviour.

Honestly I’ve never gotten the desire to do one of these things. You give away arguably the most uniquely valuable and private part of yourself to this company (or companies like it) to do god knows what with in exchange for these results that are (IMO) ultimately just unnecessary trivia about yourself.

Instead of focusing on external threats and concerns, legal streaming platforms themselves could make the most progress by changing their pricing.

It’s almost like people don’t like paying more and more for streaming services with less and less shows on them, when the pirates will offer you everything in one much smaller subscription (if not for free).

Considering how historically ineffective age bans have been online, I’m surprised that countries keep trying for this. Telling kids, esoecually teenagers, that they’re not allowed to use social media will only make them want to use it more, and thus bypass any restrictions, defeating the purpose of the ban.

It’s like CoD being 18+ yet somehow still full of prepubescent squeakers who all apparently fucked your mother last night and have Dads who work for Xbox.

Forcing social media companies to put in place appropriate safeguards for kids who do end up on social media like this “digital duty of care” is probably more effective in the long run than playing an endless cat and mouse race.

Honestly. I’d be fine with a touchscreen for things you wouldn’t likely be adjusting on the go anyways - but basic stuff like the radio and AC/Fans should always be easy to distinguish, don’t need to look away from the road to operate buttons. Making basic stuff require touchscreen is inconvenient at best and outright dangerous at worst.

IMO this year has actually felt comparatively longer than the last few since the C-19 lockdowns started. I actually feel like I’m late into the year, rather than having just blinked it away.

Exactly this. It’s a completely arbitrary rug-pull made especially repugnant by the fact you can circumvent it quite easily with basically no loss of functionality.

While modding Win11 is a perfectly legit option for home users, it’s not for businesses - as such many, many business-spec computers will be “obsolete” once security updates for Win10 end.

Best you can hope for is that these computers pour into liquidation markets giving people the chance to buy decent quality PCs for cheap - but more likely they’ll become e-waste
