  • No this is more like that old legend about the French colonial forces trying to solve the local rat problem in a Vietnamese city by paying the local populations 1 franc per rat that they kill and turn in. It made the locals breed rats to kill and turn them in for the bounty.

We need to recognize that we are now “the local population” in that scenario. We need to milk the billionaire class dry at every turn and throw as many profit losses into their game as they yield any surface area to attack. It must be attacked.

Flip their ‘1 dollar game for them’ into ‘2 dollar game for you’ every chance you can.

  • One abiding characteristic of the right-wing personality is that when he is not dominating others, he feels persecuted. That explains LaPierre’s outbursts in the 1990s just as it explains the lies that Trump, Kristi Noem, Stephen Miller, et al., require to rationalize their abandonment of a conservative shibboleth now that they are in power.

They all live behind military walls is another abiding characteristic.

  • I think that when the Patriot Act thing made different jurisdictions start to have more open books towards each other at least three things were gonna happen:

    1. some crimes being solved
    2. some crimes being further covered
    3. loss of jurisdiction objectivity

and that is what i see here. it helps sometimes. like the local sheriffs, dea, atfe et cetera act together in some sort of combo-unit all the time to try to stop drugs and guns around here.

but that makes it harder for them to investigate one another as they would have greater chance to conspire on dirt, too.

I am for the various jurisdictions continuing to work together. but i am no longer willing to let governments operate “on honor” or any sort of hoping the government actor and agents will be working in good faith.

We have been shown that their good faith can be moot.

That part needs constant up in their business transparent liberal public representative government oversight end of story.

  • in my search for a youtube replacement i have found a few small yt-like alternatives that are fractured and niche in content. which at the moment is the only model available against a monolith like yt.

the problem is that once any of these smaller site were to gather as much content as yt they would have to use that advantage like yt does to make it profitable to keep the servers running and the support/dev staff happy.

so i haven’t seen a path forward away from yt until that basic issue becomes solved. perhaps lots of small yt niche sites gathered under a federated website i don’t know
