Her finger is wild.
I want them like my 8" floppies!
NOOOO! (Angry yelling)
Yeah sometimes there is some overzealous people making some quite strange communities by the handfull at one go though, but yeah, blocking everything you don’t like is the way to go IMO too.
You are right of course, I just think it might be easier to start small. Starting small means we already have the bandwidth to do so, we just need the software.
I’m working on the tenfingers sharing protocol which could be used to kickstart a more anonymous decentralised web.
Recovery from brain injury?
/sorry
My take is that hosting is no longer expensive, I have a 30€/month fiber link with 700Mb/s up and could theoretically host my videos for hundreds or even thousands of interested people. At 40€ I can have a 10Gb/s up if needed. That’s a lot of videos served daily.
Now, I also think that the monymaker needing to serve millions of people can go and do that elsewhere.
So what’s missing is a sort of search engine so that when I want to check out fly fishing or knitting I can check out the exquisite videos from the respective community.
Something along those lines.
If people are interested I’ll host their videos, and it shouldn’t be that hard to make them searchable, but for sure, I can’t do it all by myself. What do you think?
I hate the idea that everything should be monetised, that only gives us loong videos with laughing heads and so on “to keep you engaged”.
We’re here without all that crap and well the fediverse is definitely less active but it’s content made by people because they like it, they believe in it. Not to shake the money tree.
Does it work on lemmy content too?
Edit: thanks all!
What about latency though?
Yeah, my 2013 black 1TB cost like 100€ so 12 years ago, prices are going down but not really falling off a cliff lol.
A fun twist could be letting people post, and llms answer. Each with its specific angle.
But it can only drive 100 meters.
Russian air defences always miss though (there are at least 3 images of them).
Now what’s missing is where will all the fans and modders hang around :-)
I sure hope we’ll get some nice rehashing out of this!
About the graphics, someone will probably make a ripper of the bought copy you have, a bit like Diablo 1.
Is it only me or is there some bandwagon effect on Proton hate these days?
I get it that everyone, me included, thought that sucking up to donald is a shit move, but that’s about it. Proton is good.
I’m not, they are a bunch of researchers having their servers in the country with the most privacy protective laws in the world.
Sure, criticise them when they do bad things, but what do you propose, google mail (etc.)?
If you don’t have some real information you are just following a gut feeling (which by the way is the simplest to manipulate) and I think that is kind of curious actually.
I like Proton, I have their email & VPN, works like a charm, and their servers are in nuke safe bunkers in the swiss mountains.
The only other company that I have seen that isn’t shady like for sure seems to be Mullvad, I mean if you hate the swiss or something or prefer the swedes …
I’ll believe it when I see it, because there are lots of hurdles to overcome. It seems promising though so I’m cautiously optimistic.
Teaming up with France and Germany!
And scandinavia, the baltics, and …
