i have brute forced this by not buying any kinds of snacks or sweets from the grocery store. so if i want to eat something i have to either go hungry or make a real food. (usually i end up doing both)

honestly thought this was an onion article. wtf
this is what motivated me to switch to pdfs/ebooks. i can now read any of my books on my phone/laptop whenever i want with no planning required. although i know it’s not for everyone, and i am missing out on building up a cool bookshelf.
imagine my luck at joining lemmy.world before they created an affiliates program.
if the VPN ban doesn’t work then the only reasonable course of action would be to ban the internet entirely. it’s the only way the children can be truly safe.
the mustache binds them
it’s in situations like this where i eat a few spoonfuls of peanut butter and then call it a day
it’s the opposite of Economy Plus
should just be a matter of saying “AI can’t do this job because it can’t properly do any job”. could even make that your email signature.
the post is highlighting the hypocrisy in refrigerating milk while also being against milk pasteurization, since both of those practices have been done for around a hundred years and serve to make milk last longer and be safer to drink.
i feel like ubisoft has been having really cool ideas for games pretty consistently for the past decade. (in the sense that every game has a cool elevator pitch.) but then, every time, they ruin those ideas by making the most bland and generic open world game with the most boring stories, dialogue, and gameplay systems imaginable. it’s like the creativity behind their games is forbidden to develop past the elevator pitch.
this is particularly noticeable with the assassins creed games i think. super cool ideas for settings, time periods, and main characters, etc. but every time, they find a way to turn the games into the most boring and generic slop imaginable. there’s just so much wasted potential.
No crawlers ever go there.
if it makes you feel any better, i would go there if i was a web crawler.
i think that’s fair point. language does work both ways, and i am certainly not in the majority with this opinion. but what bothers me is that it feels like they’re changing the definition of the word and piggybacking off of its old meaning. i know this kind of thing isn’t all that uncommon, but it still rubs me the wrong way.
i think we give silicon valley too much linguistic power. there should really be more pushback on them rebranding LLMs as AI. it’s just a bunch of marketing nonsense that we’re letting them get away with.
(i know that LLMs are studied in the field of computer science that’s known as artificial intelligence, but i really don’t think that subtlety is properly communicated to the general public.)
completely agreeing, 10 times
it’s true in ℤ/2ℤ
you drive a hard bargain
i agree with what you’re saying and i think we’re mostly on the same page here. i just felt it would be worth saying that, from my perspective, the point of the fediverse isn’t to compete with those websites but instead to be an alternative to them. it’s to offer a picture of what social media can be like without dark patterns, extreme surveillance, and constant enshittification. and there is a really comfort in that. it feels really nice to not have to worry about a website or app getting worse every time i use it.
i also feel like the people on here tend to behave more thoughtfully (in general) than people on reddit and other for profit social media websites. and it wouldn’t surprise me if that was in part due to the absence of dark patterns making lemmy feel more relaxed and less high stakes. there’s also a bit of a small town feeling on this website that i kind of like too.
can i be the dog
i’m the same way, and after a while i’ve come to appreciate feeling like i don’t need the strength: if i set up my environment properly then eating healthy is one less thing i have to worry about, and i can use the leftover mental strength for other things.
