The meat of the work Valve did was with the compatibility layer, not SteamOS itself. This means you can choose any distro you’re comfortable with and games will work as well as they do in SteamOS. I recommend Bazzite.

No disagreement about lying to get people on your side. That was not necessary. But also, the arguments even without the lie are still good. Microsoft shouldn’t have to lie too, to discourage people from having more control over their machines.

Know also that they did not really pull out completely. They are still there, but made sure to let everyone know they did something.
They could not do a prediction before they booked the flight nor when they scheduled the event? So their powers are limited to same-day predictions? Probably low-level NPCs.
The links were China related, and also, except for a few racists, there hasn’t been a rift between Japan and the West for a while now.
It’s a complex situation in Asia. It’s not only Japan that is wary of China. The rest of the region that share a border with China, and there are many of them including my country, are constantly having border disputes with China. As with any country, Japan has its share of loud conservatives that like similar conservative things, and if there’s anything conservatives are good at (and the left is ridiculously bad at), it’s getting into government positions.
Those Palestinian children were going to be used to populate the schools and hospitals so they can’t be bombed. Better starve them.

I installed Bazzite last June. That the local account is just a fact of life made the installation process easier than Windows. KDE (the interface) feels snappier than Windows. Also, the auto-hide Start menu doesn’t get stuck anymore. The Win 11 Start menu won’t hide when you want them to, and hides when you didn’t want it to every single time you accidentally move the mouse cursor to the bottom. I hate that I had to reach for the keyboard every time, while watching videos and such. That drove me nuts. When your wi-fi or bluetooth is not working, Win10 and 11 love to pretend they don’t exist, so you can’t fix them unless you reboot. So many things they can fix, but most of their project teams are probably focused on adding new bullshit or integrating Office/Teams/Copilot into everything, because the OS is no longer the product.

If only being correct has value with society at large…

What is not social media? Were the forums from before Friendster, MySpace, Facebook social media too? I don’t know anyone here. Is a mall a house?

Why use Mastercard as an excuse to move to crypto? You can’t generalize the problems of the current monetary system because of the actions of a few. Crypto’s impact is high? It is a non-essential. Many cryptos don’t matter. And bitcoin, as the one people gravitate towards, is awful for the environment, for something that is a non-essential (and not even a practical currency).

Trendy and morally correct. If we can hate on Mastercard for the banning of adult content on Steam, we can blame crypto and the people around it for the scams and the continuing environmental harm.

This is very common in the corporate world. The only thing is it doesn’t make sense for a trillion-dollar corporation reaping record profits to be doing this, or maybe it does. We all say competition in the market is good, but I don’t think trillion-dollar corporations are incentivized to compete. They’re chasing dollars while employees and consumers are pennies to them.

I installed Bazzite last month, installed my games on Steam and I just played all my games. Cyberpunk, RDR2, Cities Skylines, Divinity Original Sin 2, no additional setup involved, no turning off the wi-fi just to create a local account. I was ready to reinstall Windows if it got too difficult. I got rid of Mint too. I thought I’d need it as people say it’s easier.

I’m still waiting for them to recover financially so they can create another deep RPG like Daggerfall. I’ll bet ES6 will be for the fans /s

Unlike EA, Microsoft can afford to wait a little and then get rid of the employees. They let them do what they want because they have no idea how to run a gaming studio anymore. They don’t have any incentive to have expertise, which is why the old Xbox IPs like Halo or Gears died so COD can live in another part of town. They are like tech venture capitalists now, not even just in gaming.
Have they paid off the 70 billion? If they are making money, why are they firing people and cancelling projects?

I hate the auto-hide feature of the start menu. It doesn’t work right. I started using Bazzite/KDE, and it’s done correctly there.
There are still Youtubers out there motivated by the same engagement goals as gaming journalists. Both need you to click the link. With Youtubers, you can at least identify what games they like, and would know more about those specific type of games.
