Let’s start with saying that the so called AI is not “intelligence”. It’s just a pretty advanced algorithm doing some “magic”. Behind the scenes it’s just a regular linear algebra equations dealing with bazillions of rows and columns feeded from the huge matrix. Modern mobile devices are capable of running “AI” models locally but it would cost a lot of power which would make a phone as unusable as Apple watch (aka charge it few times a day). So, the easy tasks like face id are done locally, more complex one (voice assistants) are outsourced to the cloud.

On top of that I do remember reading about people getting a complimentary police visit just because they have ordered nitrite based manure (mostly farmers). Unfortunately I don’t have a link. And I do remember reading about students questioned by a police based on a library renting habits. Back then, when I was like “this will kill the privacy as we know it”, I was ridiculed.

Mostly because of the amount of good quality content. But as I said, I’ve moved to radarr/sonarr so I interact with less and less.

There is this torrent site I use that likes to use javascript to redirect to various malicious websites on every single click. After reaching the desired amount of clicks, it start behaving like a normal, “legit” website. Just of out curiosity I checked few other torrent websites and got the same result. It got so annoying that I’m using radarr and sonarr to look for torrents.

I know what dns poisoning is but it usually happens on so called legit sites. Pirate sites serve you malware out of the box.

Somehow “legit” sites won’t try to install malware on my laptop. So, I take more regular ads over piracy crap.

It’s just history repeating itself. We’ve seen dotcom bubble, web 2.0 rush, nft fiasco and now AI. All fueled by VC greed. On top of that in today’s world companies try to get as much data as possible and so called AI is the perfect tool for that.

Working from home proved that most of the people are capable of “self-managing” and don’t need a corporate drone telling them what to do. I have a feeling that the push to get back to the office is fueled by insecurities of middle management that became redundant.
