I think this will cause as many problems as it solves (from Reddit’s POV), going private has always been a panic button for mods when shit hits the fan. Now those controversies will have much longer to build and have news stories written about it first. Short sighted.
I just skimmed /r/conservative 's live thread and they are mostly talking about how unfair it was, with a few “i got a bad feeling about this” and “why are we being bigraded” posts, which is a pretty good indicator he lost imo. It’ll be 8nteresting to see what narratives they cling too once the dust settles and the astroturfers sync up.
Just so we are on the same page, could you share an example of this harm being observed?
