  • First, there’s nothing inherently wrong with being a single mother.

Single motherhood is not easy, and I have sympathy for any woman who has become a single mother with no power of her own. The critique is not aimed at single motherhood, but rather at women who make (selfish) decisions in life that leaves the children without a father. It cannot be understated how damaging that can be for her children.

One reason why I said that certain internet personalities deserve criticism on their own is that they advocate for men engaging in promiscuity and cause the same problems that these personalities claim they dislike.

Second, a woman’s worth is not determined by the number of past partners she’s had, a standard which is never applied to men.

Yes, it’s a factor that men will judge a woman by. It makes sense, because a more extensive past will more likely affect a future relationship.

Men should be held to a higher standard as well, I don’t disagree with that.

Third, securing a good father for her child is not the be-all-end-all goal of a single mother. Raising her child(ren) is. This can be done with or without a man involved.

It has been shown that children who are raised with a single parent fare worse than with both parents. It’s clear that single motherhood is not something to be desired, neither for the children nor the mothers themselves. Many single mothers are complaining, on the internet about this, so it’s strange that you are trying to defend them by claiming that there is no issue to complain about…

So a comic strip didn’t address sexism in the specific way that you approve of, and you think the proper response is to degrade the cartoonist as a whorish single mother who can’t find a good man?

I wasn’t talking about the cartoonist. I was talking about the made up characters that supposedly reflect reality. When someone sees this comic, it’s most likely that they don’t think about who drew it. They will likely see the comic in isolation from the artist, just like I did.

  • It’s such a stupid satire by a sad person who can’t address valid criticism and who feel that their only recourse is to make up a fantasy.

Staw man/Fantasy: Guy telling a random woman on the street, who happens to be married, “I wouldn’t even date you”. The strong and independent woman answers with sarcasm.

Reality: The woman is a single mother with 10+ past partners who has failed to secure a good father for her child. She puts herself online and gets scrutinized and criticized.

This is not a defense of particular internet personalities, who may or may not deserve criticism on their own. Rather, it’s to point out that these comics are stupid, and don’t address valid criticism that’s out there that need to be addressed properly.

  • Hopefully they will find better jobs with better employers.

For everyone who uses Windows, try Linux. Don’t be scared to try something new, most things that are worthwhile come with some sacrifice. Sometimes, if we don’t leave our comfort zone, we miss out.

I will provide a small guide, but there are tons of resources on the internet.

See the ranking on the right hand side here: https://distrowatch.com/ You can pick something from there on the top of the list.

Watch YouTube to learn more about each Linux distro that you find interesting.

I personally would recommend Ubuntu or Ubuntu-based distros, as they have the widest support.

You don’t have to wipe your Windows-installation completely, instead you can dual-boot. This allows you to pick Windows or Linux when you start your computer. If you feel comfortable switching entirely, you can wipe out Windows and keep Linux exclusively.

Just be careful when you partition your drive, don’t accidentally overwrite your Windows installation (if that’s not what you want to do). Make a backup copy of your most important files on a separate external drive before the installation.
