While right on a lot of things, how was windows not shitty from the beginning?
kde, linux, busses, open source and the good old Grateful Dead.

Tesla made 2.8 billion last year from selling regulatory credits. So they really didn’t have to care how many cars they sold. But those surely are going away, so they are going to have to do some other government handout, which Elon is probably hand picking right now.
I joined an instance, I discovered some people who posted some cool pictures and so I added them to my feed.
Maybe try dropping the instance you started with?
I gotta say I am rather meh about it, but that isn’t pixelfeeds fault. I just dont really care to see people posting random shit online.
But I gotta try so I can explain it to people who do because so many businesses (usually small artists) feel they can’t leave Instagram because they don’t know where else to market, and their followers won’t leave because the business is there.
I can’t recommend change without experiencing it so I can help support it.
Why do you have to use whatsapp, let alone, anything? Do you not have free will?
Yes, I think for new users that is very confusing. I find that somewhat confusing and I think I have an idea what’s going on.
Pixelfed is federated, an account can be made with Mastodon to log into different servers. But it seems different from lemmy in that joining one instance doesn’t seem to provide you with a method to view other instances and pick and choose as part of your feed. I think some people find that confusing. Any comments on that?
maybe the users should shoulder some of that blame. I get working to pay the bills, but their users have no excuse.
Wait! You will get in trouble for that. Instead you need to have an LLC that does that for Profit somehow. Then all is forgiven!
I use Teams on linux on the desktop with no firefox. You might try that.
I agree with this a lot. I really do not like the term “content”. It is like going to a recipe for some “slop”, like using a term that is just a catch all for everything tossed on a plate.
Art is great. Movies, music are also fine terms. And so is simply saying they made a video. Watering it all down to the term “content” is just so boring and mind numbing.
Time wasters.
I never did get a music subscription of any kind. Guess I am glad about that now. I just host my own server. Spotify never had a quarter of what I want to listen to anyways so I guess there is that.
Listening to Legion of Mary 12-10-1974 right now.
XP was bad enough that I was determined to switch to Linux then. I think you have Rose colored glasses.
2000 was windows Peak.
That is such a bummer, and I blame the music manufacturers.
I have a dedicated Linux laptop for all my guitar effects to replace the foot pedals. I have found I need to pay attention to what I buy to integrate into my system, but they are out there.
I switched in 2003, and I was happy to do it back then. I have an MSDN, support windows application development and back end Microsoft Services for a living. I still can’t stand their crap.
I do everything I could do in windows, play games, and generally have a better experience. If I absolutely need to access a windows desktop, I can RDP in an pay as you go Azure virtual desktop. But I will never have windows at home again.
Ogg at lower bitrates sounded better than mp3 at the same rate. Consumers dont care, but for a lot of game developers the zero patent risk and higher quality shipping with smaller files made Ogg a great choice at the time.
For me? FLACs are the only way… which reminds me, I wonder I can still convert all the SHN (shorten) lossless files I still have. I should get on that before a converter doesn’t exist.
