Kinda a bit of a rant. But God fuckin dam lol I swear it’s like playing wakamole blocking communities. I’m starting to think maybe I should block users to and see if that helps.

I block news, politics, anime, fury shit, games, constantly. It’s like I’ll block 5 of these communities a day and 15 more pop up. What is the deal? Are ppl just constantly making community after community to purposely shove it my face or what?

Yes, I know stick to subscribed. But the issue with that is all the communities I’m subscribed to are dead. There’s no new posts. So I go to all to find communities I’ll like but that are also active.

What the fuck is up with this? Why are people sexually obsessed with politics on here? I’m so tired of seeing it. Here’s my interpretation of what I see on the daily:

  • Political News
  • Politcal Perspectives
  • World News
  • Political Memes
  • Fight The Right (I just made that up but that’s actually a good name for a community lol)
  • Anarchism
  • Socialism
  • Socialism Unfiltered
  • Hot Naked Anime Chick’s
  • Political Chat
  • Climate Change For Justice
  • Ultimate Climate Change Agenda
  • Political Climate Change UK
  • Socialist Unite
  • Unite Socialist
  • Ultimate Socialism Unfiltered
  • Linux Memes
  • Anime Porn
  • Lets Talk Politics
  • Hot Naked Political Climate Change Socialist Anti Capitalism Furry Anime Titties

Man fuck. I don’t want to see any of that lol It’s like this constantly everyday. None of that shit is fun or entertaining. I’m not here for fucking politics dude. Are there any fucking cool and fun communities that don’t have anything to do with fucking politics?

Seems like what you’re describing is that people are really into politics and porn. Are we really that surprised?

And yes, new ones keep popping up because people don’t like the mod, or think they can do better, only for that effort to fizzle out in a week. Then someone else comes along.

I also ride the waves of All/Global and hate having to block those weird “thigh anime” communities. But the alternative is an eco chamber.

I know you’re just kvetching but hang in there, one day you’ll go into Subbed and be surprised how vibrant it is (if you still keep subbing to new communities).

Or make your own community and ignore that instead. 😅

Yea, ty. I mod/created 50+ communities already including this one, I can’t handle anymore lol it becomes difficult to keep up with, reason being I’m the only one posting in them. Which sucks, but it is what it is.

I do think that’s a part of it though too. It seems easier to create communities on here then on reddit. And what you’re saying are my thoughts too. Ppl do get banned a lot on here, so I can see ppl creating communities a mod banned them from so their still able to participate without being reprimanded.

I can’t fault them for that. That’s why I’ve created my own communities of ones that already exist so I’m only beholden to myself and not under someone’s thumb. So I do get that.

I was just about to rant about this yesterday lol. I have blocked 3 communities named Palestine. I’m just not interested in it. I then see another pop up a day after blocking one. Didn’t I just block you?

And as far as I can tell, they’re all moderated the same. It’s not like someone got pissed that a power obsessed mod made some new arbitrary rules and they went and created a new community with their own set of rules. They all share the same posts. The redundancy is ridiculous.

Omg lol this is fucking hilarious lol I’m laughing my ass of right now lol 🤣 FUCKING RIGHT !? It’s the same for me dude wth!? Like I’m seeing the same shit you’re describing. I’ll see like 3 fucking Climate change communities, block them all, then the next day I’ll see 5 more and all of them have the same fucking link to the same news article.

I swear. I think you’re right, I was getting this feeling like the same ppl are purposely duplicating their communities to purposely shove it everyone’s face non stop. I feel like it’s because they know some ppl don’t want to see it, so it’s like they want to force their message down your throat and on everyone

Wtf is even the point of the blocking feature then? It’s almost like being able to block is just to make us feel better and not actually even useful.

I swear. It’s almost vomit worthy for me the amount of politics ppl want to jerk off too on here. I’m so fucking tired of it. There needs to be a better system.

I feel bittersweet about y’all opening us up to more instances because of that 😂 I have found a lot of new interesting communities, but the redundancy got a lot worse, for sure.

In my optimism, I tell myself that maybe these communities aren’t federated to each other so the creators didn’t know of another instance’s community with the exact same name and/or content.

But then I think you’re right. There’s a tonnnnnn of people shoving their shit in people’s faces. I don’t care for either arguments of politics on Lemmy. I’m on here to see some funny memes and interact with people on topics I’m interested in. But someone is alwayssssss shoving politics somewhere. I’ve had to block asklemmy even though I enjoyed some posts because I’m sick of the constant bad faith posts “hey fellow leftists, why are all conservatives evil doo doo heads who hate women? Please circlejerk with me on the 14th post like this on this community today.” Now pics is doing the same…ugh.

My filter is broke because I have a tonnnn of specific words that are not getting blocked. Even basic stuff like Trump/Elon etc. is letting in that stuff still. I don’t care if it’s positive or negative about them. I’m not interested. Sigh….lol

I can understand that.Yea it’s pretty much a toss up at this point. Yes I do like finding new communities and seeing new content, but the redundancy, yes, is over kill.

I remember some guy in an anime community saying the more down votes he got the more he’d double down on posting. Which you’d think he’d get the hint that no one wants to their content, but instead they posted more… lol

I think that has something to do with it to. Ppl getting mad no one wants to see their posts so they create more communities and post even more just to be obnoxious.

If this helps any, I’ve noticed blocking those users who post shit i don’t want to see really helps clean up the feed. It takes A LOT of their posts out. But the only down side is that it shrinks the amount of ppl you can interact with. So there’s a trade off with that.

If find it’s better to only subscribe to a short list of communities and to only browse those. Then you don’t have to block the other stuff. It’s just not in your feed at all.
