There’s nothing worse when an appliance fails and you’re flicking through the future purchases like a rolodex in your head, figuring out which ones to push back a month to squeeze in a repair or new appliance.

It’s basically this but with future purchases:

Yup. I was going to buy a new couch, and the day before I was planning to go shopping, my son broke my TV.

At least it happened BEFORE I bought the couch. 😔

~I fucking hate “looking on the bright side”.~

I got a free fridge from work when they were renovating and it was a damn good day. The one provided by the landlord was such trash.

I think they went for “enjoyably excited”. You had to be somewhere between “meh, I’ll take it,” and "OMFG, THIS FRIDGE JUST GAVE ME 10 ORGASMS AND I WOULD MURDER PUPPIES TO KEEP IT IN MY LIFE!!!”

And I’ve hit the age when I am angry to see an old still from The Price is Right features pre-ozempic Drew Carey and not Bob Barker.

I’m not sure it’s an age thing, but more of a where you are in life thing.

I don’t have a house and my apartment comes with a fridge and a range. There is a laundry room in the building.

And I’m guessing that appliance would be delivered? Because again, I don’t want to have to move it. Not even if I change place.

If I’d win an appliance, I’d just sell it on the spot. Such a hassle.

On The Price is Right and many other similar shows people always have the option of taking the cash value instead and most people do because you still have to pay taxes (in the US) on your winnings regardless. You also get the item right then and most people are visiting LA on vacation and can’t take a couch or fridge back with them. The exception is cars where they will buy it from a dealership local to you if you take the car.
