While Trump is putting out all the distractions that he can right now, the threat of the Epstein “client list” continues to loom large. Surprisingly, the heart of that problem for Trump is connected to the anti-trans hate campaign that he has stoked among MAGA Republicans.

A group of Republicans who have previously been very loyal to Trump have built a large part of their platform around protecting children. While that’s an admirable political position to take, too often, rather than making moves that will lead to real support for children in dangerous situations, it has amounted to an excuse for bigotry and hate targeting the LGBTQ+ community.

What is his lack of consequences made of?

People around him jumping on grenades for him.

Some people who have done that a long time are fucking done with him over this. Objectively, the swirl of dipshits around him is lessened. He has no power, only people around him being dumb stubbornly.

Also, he’s suing rupert murdoch. I think the puppetmasters are done with him. Fascism is nothing but betrayal, and nobody perpetrating it is safe, which most of them over there know, and it scares the shit out of them, making them try to shield themselves from it by hiding even deeper in their cruelty, the only thing loud enough to drown out the shame they work triple overtime not to have.

Maybe it won’t take him down, but it’s a fucking crack in his little game that isn’t going away, and presents a significant point of leverage.

Magnetize resistance with kindness and sense spoken plainly. Add to the critical mass of people that will end this shit.

He’s so profoundly ignorant, that he has certainly never heard the saying “Never antagonize someone who buys their ink by the barrel.”

I have seen this shit so many times the last 10 years.

“this insert illigal shit will finally be the end of Trump!”

It doesn’t fucking happen. He is immune because every single politician is complicit and wants him to be immune. Because to them, it’s far better than giving the people any sort of power.

        I think you’re exactly right.

A few years ago, we saw a huge amount of mobilization for George Floyd. People fighting cops and winning.

After that, we saw a submarine full of billionaires implode & people cheered.

Recently, a health insurance CEO was shot to death in the street, and people rallied around the shooter as a hero.

Trump has been a uniquely effective vehicle for the ownership class to launch bullshit distractions at a population of Americans who are showing signs of class consciousness. Keep 40 or 50% of people mad at trans people and immigrants and DEI, and the rest busy trying to minimize the damage being done. Motherfucker said Haitian immigrants were eating cats and dogs in a presidential debate, and people somehow still take him seriously.

But he’s not long for this world. Dennis Prager has all the charisma of a bad case of trench foot. Rupert Murdoch is ancient, we’re already down a Koch brother, everything Elon Musk touches turns to shit, and I’m crossing my fingers that all the HGH gives Peter Thiel a heart attack.

The ownership class has got to make hay while the sun shines. Things are primed to turn around on them quickly.

You forget that Vance is up next if Trump goes, and despite having the charisma of a tub of melted icecream, he’s got a whole panoply of yes-men who want nothing more than to see Vance’s version of a white, Christian America come true.

He doesn’t have the rizz to beat the couch fucking allegations. I’m not worried about him. These fools only have power because they’re riding Trump’s coattails

Trump only has power because the oligarchs are using him to 1) Distract people away from class consciousness and 2) Use fascism to shore up their power for when distraction fails.

            Fuck that defeatist bullshit!

Of the top 10 largest protests in US history, two have happened this year, and they were both largely in response to Trump.

Movements are being built, organization is happening, people are pissed. Excuse us for not jumping straight to violence without a plan like the J6ers.

God. The “Americans Bad” circlejerk on Lemmy is so lame.

I see a major difference in politicians. One party impeached him. The other party protects him.

        You haven’t seen that?

Impeached him knowing it would do nothing. Spent 4 years with a majority and accomplished nothing against him. At what point do we believe this isn’t just performative bullshit?
