I really dislike how we’ve come to this despite realizing it’s probably necessary.
We’ve come to this place because Democrats kept playing fair against cheaters.
You have 3 options:
Play fair, and prosecute / arrest cheaters. (Ideal)
Cheat yourself against the cheaters. (Less ideal)
Play fair and keep losing. (Idiotic) <—Democrats are here
The fourth option is to play Hard Ball, and force them to play by the rules, and not allow them to just make up arbitrary rules to obey or not obey, depending on what’s convenient for them.
That’s option 1 above. That train left the station long ago, unfortunately.
Like radiation therapy to treat cancer. Exposing yourself to intense X-ray radiation usually isn’t a smart idea, but it’s better than the alternative, and at least it’s targeted and controlled.
