    Acting ICE director is calling the shooter a “sniper”, probably to paint the shooter as a “combatant”. Because they want it to be a war.

      How bad of a sniper do you have to be to only hit detainees if your target is agents? Something doesn’t add up here. Writing “anti-ICE” on your ammo is a little too on-the-nose and convenient, don’t you think?

        Strictly speaking, yes, but the word carries a “trained [pseudo-]military actor” connotation that “shooter” doesn’t. The choices people make in the words they use are important to pay attention to.
