Because he knows for a fact that GOP members will defect as soon as a simple majority is possible.

“[The filibuster] holds us back from the Democrats’ worst impulses.”

The Democrats’ worst impulses like not hunting immigrants for sport?

They aren’t just hunting immigrants. It’s literally anyone they think they can take advantage of.

Just like Dems have neoliberals who want to obstruct progressives and make money, Republicans have a significant amount of politicians who want to obstruct MAGA and just make money.

Both those subgroups need the filibuster as an excuse to not do what their voters want, because that isn’t how they make the most money.

Without the fillibuster, republicans would have to do everything MAGA wants. Which would hasten damage ahead of midterms and make them more likely to lose.

Then when Dems get control, they’d have no excuse not to do the shit that works.

The filibuster is the only way the wealthy can keep the shell game going where nothing happens.

trumps just so stupid and never thinks long term, so he doesn’t understand how important it is.

Like, that one dude did a performative speech starting after the Senate closed, but all it takes for a filibuster is someone saying:

Not me, but someone might filibuster this, so let’s not do anything.

And that’s enough to stop a vote.

This isn’t democracy, it’s a coordinated attempt at stopping progress

Every single person participating in that farce needs to be held fully culpable of sabotaging our society for profit.

It holds us back from the Democrats’ worst impulses.”

Yours as well, especially, asshole. Because if the filibuster didn’t exist, GOP would happily put any stupid idea they can on the express lane.

Also Mike Johnson is probably now on Trump’s “People I don’t like for disagreeing with me” list.

Yes, although it is inevitable that MAGA will fall eventually. Fascism always ends up destroying itself. The problem is it tends to take everyone else down with it.

We can all help by praising Mike Johnson for blocking Trump’s wishes.

Would be a shame if we were to make a big deal out of that and Trump caught wind.
