        This is the kind of purist thinking that will put people off and lead to less people switching.

        Signal is Open Source, probably one of the most vetted E2EE there is. And it holds up. Compared to Facebook Messenger it’s a miracle.

        And crucially it works similarly.

          That’s what people said once about Telegram and look how they turned out. Do you believe Signal won’t go down that same path? They’ve already gotten some cracks to their reputation.

                Well for one signal is backed by the EFF. That gives more confidence to me then telegram ever had. It seems weird that you’d just shoot down anything here and yet back email. How does that technology help at all? You could add your own gpg encryption to a text too if you wanted to. Your comment just seems unhelpful and prevents any positive change, so it’s a shit post.

            Telegram has never open sourced its server side code which makes it completely different from a fully FOSS thing like signal.
