Mine decided to randomly start rebooting about a year ago. :( Tried everything I could think of to get it to work normally, but nothing helped. I couldn’t rely on it, so I had to replace it. Like you, I hadn’t planned to replace it any time soon.
In the US, if you don’t have the loyalty card, you’re paying more for groceries. For the stores we use, any sale prices are contingent upon using the loyalty card. This can add up to $5-$10 per order.
My first one was a Seagate ST-238R. 32 MB of pure storage, baby. For some reason I thought we still needed the two disk drives as well, but I don’t remember why.

We’d set the interleave to, say, 4:1 (four revolutions to read all data in a track, IIRC), because the hard drive was too fast for the CPU to deal with the data… ha.
Zwiftinsider isn’t run by Zwift - he just reports on them (though he definitely has inside information, and they work with him on various things, like letting him use “bots” to test various functionalities).
That is pretty old. I think there are several approaches now. The one he lists, one using docker (I actually had it running on my desktop Linux machine, but I didn’t actually test it), and I think some people got it working under WINE.
Zwift’s saving grace is that you can connect most hardware via your phone - trainer, cadence, heart rate monitor, etc. - because it’s designed to also run on things like Apple TVs, iPads, and Android phones and tablets, albeit with probably lower graphics settings. So, you don’t need to worry about the hardware end of it (ANT+ dongle), which very much simplifies the issue. Which reminds me, my heart rate monitor is ANT+ only, and I’d need a bluetooth-capable one to do this.
(Also, at worst, I could run it on my tablet and hook that up to a monitor, so even if I can’t get it running on Linux, I still have options.)
Got that the other day on my gaming computer. Very irritating.
Especially since I bought the computer in 2021 specifically to run the virtual cycling program Zwift. I’m not replacing it just to placate Microsoft. It’s more than powerful enough to run Zwift and will be for years. I’m hoping the options for using Zwift on Linux pan out.

I was on an airplane one time when someone was doing that. The flight attendant heard it and said something like, “Oh no, that’s not okay,” then figured out who it was and had them turn it down. No one even asked - she just did it. Excellent.
Man I want to put LED bulbs in my 1999 model year car, but I don’t want to start blinding people. The last thing I want is for someone to hit me because they were blinded. It seems many LEDs do intend to have similar beam patterns to halogen bulbs, but I’m not sure how well they actually do.
Our 2020 Mazda has LED headlights, and I gotta admit, they are much better for seeing. We live off the beaten path, not a ton of traffic, but plenty of deer and other animals.
On the other hand, my headlights in the 1999 had gotten really hazy, and I recently did one of those headlight restoration kits to it, and it worked stunningly well. Since then, I haven’t driven at night very much to get a feel for how much it helped. So maybe I won’t need LEDs. (The halogens in there are relatively new.)
I kind of like having that layer of someone who knows what they’re doing. House purchasing and selling isn’t something we do often, so a knowledgeable person seems like a reasonable investment. Same reason you shouldn’t be your own lawyer.
I do have some qualms about how they get paid. The commission I pay my own agent doesn’t really even bother me that much, although they’re obviously incentivized to get us to buy the most expensive home we can afford. But the commission that the seller pays to the agent for the purchasers disturbs the hell out of me - it’s a pretty clear conflict of interest.
We had a “Buyers Agent” for our last purchase - this is someone that only does buying; they do not sell homes. The idea being there’s less conflict of interest because they’re not trying to sell you a home they have listed (the company he owned did not list homes at all). Great idea, but they still take the commission from the seller, so it’s not perfect. We worked with another agent from a different company for selling the old house.
Some subs are very negative. I remember antimlm was, as well, people spent all day mocking people who got involved in MLM schemes. I subbed for a while because my wife was in one, and I was hoping for help, advice, tips, etc., but it was all just mocking them and calling them “hon bots” or whatever the term was. I had to unsub, I don’t need that negativity in my life.
The hobby subs, on the other hand, always seemed extremely supportive, or at least the ones I was in were. For example, the radio control (cars, planes, boats, etc.) sub members were totally into it and totally supportive of whatever it was you were doing. It was inspiring and made me want to get back into the hobby. Those kinds of subs were the best part of reddit, and unfortunately we haven’t recreated that energy for things like that here - just not enough users.

It seems Musk thinks he’s tending another Mona Lisa or some other world cultural artifact that society would hate to lose. Not some website that’s fairly easily recreated by, say, a bunch of hobbyists.
I run an internet forum for a very specific topic. I have to manually register people, because before I did that, spammers would come in and crap all over everything. (Fortunately it’s not a very popular topic, so I only have to register new accounts a few times each month.) I run the forum on my own dime, no advertising or anything, as a side hobby.
There’s also a very active Facebook group. The Facebook group is great for general conversation, but often when a technical question comes up, please just link to the forum where the info is stored. Searching in Facebook is terrible, and what happens if Facebook decides to block access to history for some reason? (Not that they necessarily would, but I’ve seen it happen many times. Remember when Photobucket blocked access to old pictures unless you had a paid account? We lost a bunch of useful pictures on the forum when that happened.)
