I had this issue for a while but about a decade ago I stumbled upon someone who said “every thing should have it’s own home, and you put that thing where it lives” and it becomes somehow a lot easier.
Living with other people throws a spanner in the works but at least the thing is there much more often.
There should be a small sliver saying “in my hand (I’m not aware of that)”
Where are my glasses?!?
And one more for, “stuck it in the fridge I guess.”
I got sorta (not really sorta) manic for a month and cleaned our home and rearranged everything so that it’d make more sense. I have no idea where some things are. I developed a system that I don’t recall.
My pattern is that when I finally give up looking for something and make a definite decision to replace it or make do with something else, within a couple seconds I randomly look right at whatever I was searching for. It happens so consistently I’m sure it’s a brain pattern. My theory is that part of me knows where the thing is but doesn’t let the information rise to my consciousness because the search is a fun game. Then when I sincerely decide to quit looking, the game is over so there’s no point hiding it anymore.
The worst thing when you think you did purple but it was actually green
I can’t find my dog’s undercoat comb. I just used it like 3 days ago, and there’s only 2 places I ever put it. It isn’t in either place. 😮💨
Sometimes I swear I must have spacial blindness. I can check an area 7 times and not see the thing I’m looking for even though it’s there.
Are you neurodiverse? it can be a sign
Yup
Or he needs some sleep
…wait what? Can you elaborate on this?
People can think they are “spatially blind”, as they have difficulties with spatial awareness, depth perception, visual memory etc. That can be dyspraxia, it may be a sign of other conditions as well but I’m not sure.
Hmmm. I’m down on all of that. Always miserable because of it too.
It’s in your pocket. Yes it is, just check
…I found it. You left it in Antarctica.
