Trump isn’t doing this alone. He can only do this with the blessing of the Republicans and their oligarch masters. And they are all making unimaginable fortunes from doing it, which seems to me to be more of an incentive for them doing it.

Get the FBI to release the unedited complete Epstein jail video.

One of many t things I don’t get about his groupies. They have four years to exploit the country where they are effectively above the law, but how can they not expect justice after that? They should all be considering whether they’re going to prison in five years

The wheel of justice eventually coming around is my only hope. And I live for the day that Trump legacy comes crashing down upon them

Politics has always pendulums back and forth. We may have swung way out in one direction but I still have hope it will swing back again, we will have elections again, people will want hope and change, want to add truth to the meaningless platitudes they made the mistake of voting for.

If we return to democracy, return to the rule of law, justice can happen

The damage he’s causing isn’t the result of someone who’s trying to do good and failing. He is an enemy of the United States, deliberately doing as much damage as he can.

He may be an idiot, but thankfully so otherwise the comparisons to the Nazis circa 1930 would be a lot more direct.

It’s like that one user who runs around doing whatever they want because they know the mods. Occasionally they might get a 24 hour ban for being really bad, but that’s just for show. It will never be permanent and ultimately if you want them to stop you have to find where they live and do it yourself.

I would argue there is a pretty good angle from the Eisenhower executive office building

And yeah he’s an idiot. But he’s not like a bumbling guy with bad ideas because he doesn’t understand how things work. It’s a mistake to think this.

Trump is doing things very intentionally. Silencing the press, crashing the government and economy in ways that benefit the wealthy.

He’s doing shit for him, not for you. When you position it like “Trump is an idiot! He’s doing the presidency thing very wrong” your mistake is that he’s “doing the presidency thing”. He’s doing the private equity thing.

It’s kind of both. Trump is a moron and some of what he does is failing and he doesn’t understand why, but some of it is also working exactly like he planned. Trump is and always has been a conman. He is not a businessman, he is a conman. That’s a very critical thing to understand. Everything he does is a grift of some kind, it’s his default operating mode.

Every action he takes he intends to either enrich himself or attack someone he doesn’t like. He never does anything that will benefit someone else unless he sees some way in which he can also benefit. He will always opt for the scummiest solution to any problem because he likes to feel like he “tricked” someone or got one over on them, that it somehow proves he’s a brilliant businessman. He genuinely believes that scammer and businessman are the same thing.

I don’t doubt he thinks it is some sort of 5 d chess. But he’s still suffering with dementia and a healthy dose of narcissism making him completely useless. Even the people he is playing puppet to are going to get fucked hard and it’s not even the plan. It’s just how dementia works and how fools who think they are using someone (and it is elder abuse) are really the creation and fall of their own making. They stupidly thought he was just a hype man with stern dad energy.

They had no idea they were playing with pure chaos.

which actually, if you look at how “great businessmen” from history had amassed their fortunes, isn’t that far from the truth. It’s not exactly right, but it’s not exactly wrong, either. Someone was always getting fucked in the process, it was usually just their employees instead of their business partners.

Rioting in the streets. Organized resistance. Not going into work, not paying mortgage/rent. You’re sitting through a passive civil war where all the “liberties” that were fought and died for in the past 100 years are being stripped away without due process and without legal recourse. What do you think you should be doing about it? Nothing? How’s that going?

As with many people, it isn’t just about me. I am not willing to move my family and my elderly parent onto the streets at this stage.

The government could have taken all my assets at any point in the last 50 years if they wanted. We all have to deal with the current reality. I think we are still at a stage where protesting and voting may be enough to turn things around. Meanwhile, I am supporting local efforts to protect vulnerable people from the new policies. There is organized resistance and it is scaling up.

Now, if you show dessent, if you’re the wrong skin colour, if you’re the wrong political party, he wants your stuff, and you in jail or out of the country. By word and action. And do you think he’s lining the government coffers or his own with all that booty? Corruption all the way down. Seized as proceeds of made up crime, who’s gonna stop them?

Understand that I don’t entirely disagree with you. Particularly on the first two points. Not going into work and not paying for housing are only effective if large numbers of other people are doing it too. We may get to that point, organized resistance is happening, but anyone doing those things right now is simply going to become homeless and desperate.

People rarely take actions that they know will destroy their lives unless they feel that they have nothing further to lose. More people are reaching that point every day and that may eventually make that kind of resistance effective. For better or worse, the average citizen is not there yet. I hope the growing protest movement will force changes first. It is still early days.
