The problem is we should be opposing ICE, not just Trump’s version. Biden’s version has them chasing down Hatians on horseback, slave patrol style. Biden helped build the current infrastructure for trump to exploit.
Liberals only oppose it now because a white woman died.
And now a white man. But more important than race or gender I think people care more because they were US citizens and were murdered in broad daylight. Their murder and rape of immigrants is being done behind closed doors. Sure a story leaks out here and there but we lack the visceral impact of a video.
That’s one of the details in today’s coverage that kept getting under my skin: identifying them as citizens as if that makes it worse.
The already egregious violations of multiple civil rights taking place up to and including the murder are the story, not the victim’s immigration status.
If they were not a citizen they are still entitled to all civil rights granted by our constitution; the Bill of Rights makes no mention of citizenship as a condition for the rights enumerated therein nor does the word “citizen” even appear in the text.
If they are allowed to take away one person’s rights, all of ours are forfeit.
Yeah, that really frustrated me because they’ve killed literally dozens of people in the last year. That said, it got people moving, which is at least something.

It got them moving for about a week
