World leaders need to laugh in his face and say “do you understand how tariffs work?”

It’s so stupid - Donvict throws a tantrum because China and Canada are working on a trade deal and Donvict barges in with a “oh yeah?! well, I’m so mad I’m going to make it even harder to sell goods to us and make things even more unaffordable for Americans than I already have! Take that!”

Nevermind the fact that this is probably only going to further solidify a Canadian populace that is already quite resistant to buying anything American right now…

Instead they do The Diplomatic Thing and take him seriously. Usually appeasing, sometimes crawling up his bunghole, but never asking the obvious: “have you lost it completely?” (Well, Carney apparently does. I was thinking about that sorry bunch on my home continent)

Sometimes somebody manages to walk the line by saying something that will please his Dumbness but is very obviously over the top to everybody else. Mark Rutte - not that I like him much otherwise - did that once. That was fun. But it doesn’t really help either.

I think we’re starting to see a shift in foreign policy though. Especially after Davos.

Carnie’s speech was powerful. European leaders got Trump to back down (so they think) after organising and preparing a strong, unified response that spooked the markets.

I think they are finally starting to realise that he can’t be placated, he isn’t going away and that he needs to be stood up to.

        Maybe I’m just hopeful.

At the time, Trump said that agreement was what Carney “should be doing and it’s a good thing for him to sign a trade deal with China."

Someone got around to telling Trump this isn’t just about EVs.

Why not tax the American people buying Canadian goods one THOUSAND percent?

I mean, if Donvict has a bit of gas, he threatens everyone with tariffs for silly reasons…
