Gallup will no longer track presidential approval ratings after more than eight decades doing so, the public opinion polling agency confirmed to The Hill on Wednesday.

The company said starting this year it would stop publishing approval and favorability ratings of individual political figures, saying in a statement it “reflects an evolution in how Gallup focuses its public research and thought leadership.”

It reflects gallup bowing to pressure from the administration seeking to end all bad press about it, one way or another. The media sees that no one will stop them, so caves to the pressure. They all think the Republic is all but dead, elections will be fixed for the party going forward, and resistance is futile.

It’s only the people that don’t think that, the courts, the media, bureaucracy, and the rest gave up and surrendered the Republic last year. The media helped saddle us with opposition to them that couldn’t win so are a co conspirator anyway, even if they don’t entirely realize how culpable they are. But they can blame others, and they do. It’s all voters’ fault that they didn’t do the thing it was known they wouldn’t do when the party and media forced a strategy that couldn’t work.

It sounds dumb when you verbalize it, but the reasoning works on the sheep, and of course shouting down any that disagree works, especially when you are the media and those disagreeing are just citizens with no platform.

Journalists should treat this the same way they did when musk took over Twitter and set the press email to auto-reply with a poop emoji.

Many articles included references to that, saying things like, ‘we reached out to Twitter, but their response was shit’. Some fed it questions tailored to the auto-reply, so that they could report things like 'when asked their opinion about the company’s chances of survival under musk, twitter’s own PR dept was not optimistic, chosing to simply reply with a poop emoji.

Journalists (at least those not working for maga controlled / allied media) should take a similar approach, and characterize the new, null data as 0%, and publish statements like

‘In recent poling, Gallup found no supporters for the president, suggesting his approval rating of 0%’

    Or

'Our graph of Gallups poling data on presidential popularity over time shows a sharp decline to 0% approval in recent months. (After purposefully building a bot / website scraper that shows null/ undefined results as 0, making that a true statement.)

I think most paying attention don’t hold much faith in polls and, for the most part, ignore them. Polls seem to exist to try to sway public opinion, not inform the public with verifiable facts. Sadly, it seems to me that most don’t pay attention, they just jump right in.

I don’t think that. Also, the polls being off for the past ten years, rather than showing how much more inaccurate they are now than before, and they aren’t totally accurate by any measure, but it could be showing the republicans are cheating, have been cheating, even if their cheating hasn’t always been enough to win.

They are cheating in more and better ways now, and gearing to outright denialism. It’s not a conspiracy, or a theory to say they are trying to cheat, we all saw 2020, we know what happened in 2000, that these voting fraud campaigns started right after they stole the 2000 election. We know states putting outdated and inadequate equipment in blue districts, understaffing them, making some have to wait all day to vote. None of this is new, and none in good faith, they are just taking it to the next level.

So rather than the polls being so much more wrong that before, perhaps they are cheating more than before and that’s why they are off more than they ever have been before these last 10 years.

Damn. Was hoping this meant they wouldn’t measure approval ratings for presidents 88 years old or more, but nah, just more cowardly bullshit.

Translated: We are cowards and the current president is a ridiculously fragile crybaby who can bury us all if we produce data that indicates he is polling worse than the previous president, who he claims was the worst of all time. We have no spine, no balls, no integrity, and welcome our tissue-skinned commander-in-chief into our eagerly-awaiting spread cheeks.

Seems to be a common theme nowadays.

OK, so Gallup is pro-fascist and their poll numbers can’t ever be trusted. Bunch of orange-ass-kissing cowards.
