It’s the summers that we don’t get thunderstorms that I worry about, because those are the years we end up in extreme droughts and those are far more miserable. As for the heat, people find a reason to bitch about every season. It’s too cold. It’s too hot. Eew there’s bugs. Damned pollen. Fuckin’ leaves everywhere. Ice sucks. Bird shit all over. Santa Claus is coming to town, hide your kids and hide your wife.

I love thunderstorms though. They are my favourite weather.

It’s pretty clear that I have never been struck by lightning.

Um, excuse me. Thunderstorms are amazing! I’ll take a good thunderstorm everyday of the summer over the heat and sun

Every time there’s a thunderstorm, a town or city floods. Infrastructure is not built for the kinds of rain we’re seeing now and it used to be so rare it wasn’t an issue. Now everyone is scrambling to build water handling systems.

My probtis i love in a tiny apartment with two cats. My windows were kept tight to keep on the pitiful amount of cold air from my window unit, but not being able to open the windows at night means my timy apartment starts to smell like cat real fast

Well in the event that you have to leave the house at specific times, which I do, I’d say yes it is a negative. Having fun outside with friends or family like going on hikes, swimming in a lake, picnics and such are also significantly less safe during thiunderstorms and yes, I enjoy those activities so it is a negative for me.

Do not miss growing up in south Texas and having to deal with hot rainstorms.

    And hail.

    Do not miss hail.

Swede here, there has been a lot of posts about a heatwave in Europe, so far the summer here has been very mild, and this is the weather I am seeing in the weather app for my two week summer vacation:

    • We need some kind of international exchange program for people who hate the heat to trade with people who hate the cold. Last winter just about finished me mentally which contributed to losing my job. If I had to live somewhere it was 100F every day I would do it as long as I never have to see snow again.

I loved it in the tropics. 40C day, then right on 4pm, BAM!!! It’s 25C, there’s an epic lightning show, 10 mins later it’s gone, the roads are steaming, and a nice balmy 28C night kicks off.,
